Behind every story is a storyteller, an artisan who carefully polishes their words. When it comes to The Shadow of Phaedrus series, there isn’t only one, but two storytellers. Meet the authors.
Why write as a pair?
You might ask: why did you write it together, rather than alone?
The real answer is: WHY NOT?
We created The Shadow of Phaedrus together – shaped through our discussions, midnight rambles, and shared imaginations
How did you co-author it?
There were no clear rules on who should write which part. In fact, we spend a lot of time proofreading, editing, and commenting together. So, in the end, the Phaedrus series is truly a shared responsibility. It was never a case of one of us writing one chapter and the other one taking the next chapter. We were lucky enough to have different writing schedules so that we could easily join forces, one of us taking over from where the other ended.
We did, however, make sure that our efforts were aligned at all times:
- We created a map of the magical world
- We built a glossary and guide of our magical world, including the different magics, the history of the world, the history of the main families within the world
- We created a list of characters, including personality, physical appearance, allegiances, and family tree
- We created a chapter-by-chapter outline on Trello for each book
- We both know how the Shadow of Phaedrus ends
- We created a breakdown of key scenes that will appear throughout the series
Tell me about The Shadow of Phaedrus
The Shadow of Phaedrus is a YA fantasy series. To summarise its main theme and vibe briefly, imagine you are going on a dangerous journey through a magical world and your main companions are:
- An owl that is dead set on feeding you plump rodents
- A clairvoyant with raging ADHD
- A Shadow that pokes fun at everything you do
And if it wasn’t enough, you’ve got a mission. You’re determined to avenge your brother’s death and you’re ready to take down the magician behind it, even though you have zero training and just as much survival instinct.
The first book of the series is THE DEAD SHADOW, and planned for release into the world very soon!
The second book, is already in progress.
