Every character grows and evolves as they explore more of their surroundings and make new friends or enemies. Rhode is no stranger to personal development. When we leave her at the end of dead Shadow, she is no longer the person who was first rescued out of the Agrinion prison.
As Rhode’s unique ability to use magic without a Shadow attracted the interest of the shaman, the Shadow, and their companions, it seems only fair to get to know her. Let’s dive in and discover who Rhode is at the time she’s been arrested in Agrinion.
Are you a magician?
What? Of course not. Do I look like a magician to you?
But you were doing magic?
Oh that? It just appeared one day. When I’m scared or angry, I feel it bubbling in me and I can throw a light. It doesn’t do much. I can only burn things with it. It burns in a black flame. I burned myself the first time it happened because it took me by surprise. It just exploded out of my body. I’ve still got a scar on my wrist.
I don’t use it in public normally. The one time I try to do good with it, I get arrested and tortured. The guards keep asking where my Shadow is. Idiots, the lot of them. I’m an Earthling, don’t they know that much? Magicians are evil, look what they’ve done to me.
You don’t seem to like magicians much.
Why should I? They bring chaos and destruction everywhere they do. One of them tore my family apart when I was a small girl. A Nekros magician killed my brother. I will find her. I will hunt her down. I will make her pay for what she did. My brother was a little child. You have to be evil at heart to take an innocent child’s life like that. That’s why I can’t trust them.
It could be dangerous to take on a magician by yourself.
I know. But they don’t expect someone like me to be able to do anything. And I will prove them wrong. I don’t care what happens to me after I’ve avenged Markos.
